RODERIC WILLIAM FREDERICKSON, WOODBINE, MARYLAND

Roderic William Frederickson, 94, died on Sunday Oct. 3, 2010 at his home in Woodbine, MD after a long illness.

He was born in Winterset, Iowa on May 17, 1916, and was the son of William and Maude N. Frederickson. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1936 and left Iowa in 1940 to work for the government in Washington, D.C. He entered the Army in 1942 and served in India, China, and the South Pacific. After a short stint as a tobacco farmer in southern Maryland, he returned to the government as a civilian employee at Andrews Air Force Base. He worked at Andrews Air Force Base until his retirement in 1974. He was an active member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), a lay leader for the Gaither United Methodist and Mt. Olive United Methodist churches, backup assistant chaplain for the Springfield State Hospital Center, and a volunteer driver for local cancer patients.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean H. Frederickson.

He is survived by wife Mary Evelyn Frederickson; daughters Nancy Sherlin, Linda Hendrickson, and Sally Bien; sons William and Larry Frederickson and step-son James Snap. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
