HANS & JULIA GREEN

Graveside memorial services for siblings Hans and Julia Green, formerly of Winterset, will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Winterset Cemetery in Winterset. The children of Fred Engelbart and Joyce Halley (nee Engelking), Hans Joseph was born Nov. 30, 1964, in Iowa Falls. Julia Nora was born Dec. 30, 1965 in Des Moines. Joyce married Roy Green, adopting Hans and Julia, who took his name. They both attended Winterset High School where Hans graduated in 1983; Julia later graduated from Valley High School in 1984 when the family moved to West Des Moines.

Hans was a carpenter, employed in the Annapolis, Md., area for 10 years prior to his death on Dec. 4, 2006. He was 42.

Julia attended the University of Maryland-Baltimore and worked in New York City’’s financial district for 20 years. She died July 26, 2010, in South Carolina at the age of 44.

Hans and Julia are survived by their mother and stepfather, Joyce and C. Ray Halley of North Myrtle Beach, SC; father, Fred Engelbart of Indianola; adoptive father, Roy Green of Arkansas; two sisters –– Anne Marie Green of Washington, DC, and Pauline Hartley of Saginaw, Texas; and half-sisters –– Nicole Engelbart of Indianola and Emerald Green of Arkansas. Hans is survived by a son, Joe Green of Brandon, SD.
