Rachalan Erwin was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, March 3, 1845 and died in Truro Feb. 15, 1913, aged 67 years, 11 months and 12 days. She moved to Jasper county, Iowa, with her parents in the spring of 1860. Soon after they moved to Madison county and settled on the farm known as the Wilson Kale farm.

She was married to Ebenezer Burt in July 1866. To them were born four children, two having departed to the better land early in life. In the fall of 1883 her husband died. She was then united in marriage to Emery S. Robinson Oct. 18, 1888 and they resided on the farm 1 mile east of town until the spring of 1900, when they moved to Truro, where they have since resided.

She was converted and united with the Baptist church in Clarke county in her youth. She afterwards united with the Christian church in Truro, of which she remained a faithful member. Shortly after they moved to town her health began to fail and especially the past year she has been almost a constant sufferer, and yet through it all she has always been patient and trusting in God and abiding to his will. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, a sincere Christian, a friend to all in need, and loved by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, four sons, one daughter, six brothers, three sisters and a large number of other relatives.

The funeral services were held from the house Monday at 11 o’clock, Rev. Powell conducting, assisted by Rev. Corkill. The remains were laid to rest in the Hartman cemetery, south of town.
