Mrs. Irene May Harrell Jones was born May 1, 1871 in Jackson county, Indiana, and died June 27, 1912, aged 41 years, 1 month and 16 days. She was brought here while a babe, by her parents to live and grow to womanhood in Madison county in the Harrell homestead in Scott township, near the Lincoln School.

She was married to Perry Jones Sept. 25, 1907. She lived on his home place some miles south east of Winterset. For some months, her health has not been good, last Sunday her husband bringing her to her mother and sisters on North First avenue in our city so that it might be they could help, she began to get worse and on Friday morning at three o’clock, her spirit left the body. Her husband and mother and sisters did all that they could, but death loves a shining mark. She was converted years ago, and united with the M.E. church, being a consistent member thereof until the day of her death. She was one of ten children, three boys and seven girls, she herself being one of a pair of twins, the other one, Eugene dying at three months of age.

She leaves to mourn her early death, her husband and step daughter, besides her mother and four sisters, and a host of friends to mourn her going. She died in the faith and we lay away her body in the hope of the resurrection.
