Doris J. Cooper, 82, of Creston died Sept. 3, 2010, at her home.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Sept. 8) at Powers Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Chuck Spindler officiating. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in rural Creston. Doris Cooper was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Madison County to Glen Ellsworth and Pauline Maude (Klos) Campbell and was a 1945 graduate of Macksburg High School. Her marriage to Ronald James Cooper took place June 21, 1947, in Hiawatha, Kan. Doris worked for Winterset United Grocery Store until 1954, when she and her family moved to Des Moines. While living in Des Moines, she worked for Employers Mutual. Later, Doris was employed by Rockwell International in Los Angeles, Calif., from 1960 through1983, when she retired from the personnel department. She and her husband also owned and operated a mini storage from 1983–88 in Arroyo Grande, Calif. In 1988, they sold their business and moved to Rogers, Ark, where they spent the next 18 years, before moving to Creston on March 1, 2006.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Herren and Minnie Lehmer.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald, of Creston; one son, Larry W. Cooper of Apple Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Rhonda L. Miller of Creston; one sister, Carol Jacobs of Winterset; and five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
