Pg 1Mrs. Sarah Young, mother of ex-supervisor John T. Young, died at her home east of town on last Saturday. Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. S. Corkey, were held at the home on Monday and burial at Winterset. The deceased was one of the very early pioneers of this county and with her husband, located on the farm where he died in 1878. More extended notice of her life will be found in this paper.

Pg 3Mrs. Sarah Moore Young was born in Belmont county, Ohio, Dec. 28, 1829. Died at her home three miles east of Winterset on Saturday, May 4th, aged 82 years.
She moved to Madison county in the fall of 1856, and settled on the farm where she lived until she was called to her eternal home. She was married to Geo. W. Young in Belmont county, Ohio, April 27, 1848. The husband preceded her in death, November 22, 1878. To this union were born seven children all of whom are living: W. C. of Centerville, S. D., Mrs. Mary Houtby, North Loup, Nebr., Jas. M., John T., George W. and Nina Young, all of this vicinity and Mrs. Frankie Thomson of Earlham. Besides these children, she also leaves one brother and one sister, fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Young was one of the pioneer settlers of Madison county. With her husband and four children she drove from Belmont county, Ohio to Madison county, Iowa in the fall of 1856. They located on the farm east of Winterset, which was her residence for fifty-six years. She adhered to the Presbyterian faith and held membership in the Winterset church of that denomination since 1866.
Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
