Page 6Elizabeth Evans, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Thompson, was born December 15, 1863, in Indianapolis, Ind., and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Irene Jones, on February 25, 1925, aged 61 years, 2 months and 10 days.
At the age of three years she moved to Blakesburg, Iowa, and grew to womanhood.
On July 4, 1881 she was united in marriage to David L. Evans of Gilford township, Monroe county. To this union were born eight children, two sons dying in infancy.
The surviving are Thomas E. of Ventura, Iowa; Earl of Winterset, George of Valley Junction, David of Winterset, Mrs. Mae Packard of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Irene Jones of Winterset.
Mr. and Mrs. Evans resided in Gilford township, Monroe County, until the year 1905, when they moved to southeastern Missouri, where they lived until 1911. They then moved to Madison county, where they have since resided.
A little over two years ago, her husband preceded her in death. Since that time she has made her home with her son Earl and wife.
In her young womanhood she became a member of the Methodist church and has always been a consistent member of that church. She always enjoyed church services and attended such whenever opportunity permitted.
For almost 30 years she has been a member of both Love Rebekah lodge No. 345, I.O.O.F, Hiteman, Iowa and Wild Rose lodge, No. 45, Degree of Honor, A.O.U.W,. Hiteman.
She was a loving wife and a true, thoughtful mother, always thinking of the welfare of her children above her own. Her ideals were those of a good Christian mother, striving always to influence her children in the ways of righteousness. She will be greatly missed, not only in the home circle, but in the neighborhood where she has lived for several years.
Besides her children she leaves to mourn her loss, one brother, I.B. Thompson of Centerville; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Johnson of Neosho, Mo., and Mrs. Mollie Cushman of Billings, Mont., also three half brothers: Will, Frank and Charles Thompson of Albia, and a half sister, Mrs. Clara Marrow of Omaha. There are also 13 grandchildren, to whom she was greatly attached.
