MRS. ESTHER BENSON

Esther Angeline Tiers was born on Nov. 25, 1837 in Bradford county, Pennsylvania, and died at her home in Winterset, Iowa, Aug 2, 1914. When 10 years of age, she moved with her parents to Jackson county, Ohio and from there to Washington, Iowa.

When 19 years of age, she was united in marriage to Samuel F. Benson, and in the year 1870, they moved to Winterset, Iowa, which has since been her home. The husband died seven years ago.

When 16 years of age, she united with the M. E. church, and on moving to Winterset, united with the Christian Union church, of which she was a faithful member. The consolation of Christ and His word were very precious to her. She was a kind and loving mother, and friend.

Seven children came to bless her home, two of them dying in infancy. Those that remain to mourn her death are Mrs. Maggie Miller, Mrs. Hattie Hildebrand, Samuel and Edward of Winterset, and Milton of Atlanta, Ga., She also leaves a sister, Mrs. A. C. Hill of Clay Center, Kansas, and a younger brother, George Tiers of Kansas, and several grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Church of Christ of Christian Union church, on Aug. 3rd, at 3:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis. Interment in the Rock City cemetery.
