William Gearhart was born in Indiana, August 11, 1830 and died at Truro, Iowa, March 30, 1911 aged 80 years 7 months and 11 days. He came to Iowa with his parents when about 18 years of age and settled with them on a farm near St. Charles.

He married Miss Catherine Hill Jan. 12, 1862, to this union two children were born, John Gearhardt and Mrs. Webb, a widow, north of Washington.

His wife afterwards died. He was again married to Mrs. Susan Irwin, who survive him.

They moved to Truro about four years ago. He has been suffering, afflicted for several years, but was able to be around until within two days of his death, when he was afflicted with a paralytic stroke.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. church in Truro, conducted by the pastor on March --, after which he was laid to rest in the Young cemetery.
