Obituary

Margaret Reece was born Dec. 8, 1827 at Booneville, Yadkin county, N. C., and died at the home of her son, Wm. S. Caudle, on March 2, 1911, age 82 years, 2 months and 24 days. On Dec. 21, 1858, she was united in marriage to Abram Caudle who died in 1899. Seven children came to bless this union: Sarah J., who died in infancy; Aaron O., who died April 10, 1910, Abram R., of North Carolina; John H. and James J., of Ellsworth, Iowa; Mary C. Foster of Winterset and William S. of Earlham. The family came to Iowa in 1869, locating in Hardin county, moving to Hamilton county in 1876, and this was her home, until two years ago, when she came to live with her son. She had been sick since last October and although her suffering was intense, she bore it patiently and was glad when relief came. She was a kind, loving mother, a true friend and neighbor, a beautiful, ripened sheaf.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of Wm. S. Caudle March 3d, by Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset and the body was taken to the train at DeSoto and shipped to Jewell, Iowa for burial.
