From the Cheyenne (Wyo.) Leader, we learn of the death of Mrs. Nelle Smith Maddy, daughter of ex-county Superintendent Smith of this county.
“Mrs. Nelle Smith Maddy, 32, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Smith, and wife of Lloyd Maddy of Hillsdale, died yesterday afternoon at the Private hospital after several weeks of suffering with liver trouble. Three weeks ago she was brought to the hospital and it was thought for a time that her grit would conquer the disease, but it had secured too strong a hold and would not let go.
Nelle Smith came to Hillsdale some months after her parents arrived from Winterset, Iowa and was married to Lloyd Maddy on November 24, 1912. There are no children. The decedent is survived by her husband, parents, a brother, Arthur, of Iowa City, and a sister, Fannie, a teacher in the public schools at Kalispel, Mont. All are in the city.
Coming from a family which takes a special interest in education, she completed the common school course and attended the state normal school at Cedar Falls, Iowa. She had splendid success as a teacher, having taught at one time in the schools of Des Moines.
Mrs. Maddy was a lovable character and possessed of more than ordinary beauty. She will be sadly missed.”
