Obituary

Maggie Alice Porter was born in Madison county, Iowa, Feb. 20, 1892, and died at the home of her parents, in Truro, Feb. 4, 1911, aged 19 years, 11 months and 14 days. She has always lived with her parents, near Peru, and has a wide circle of acquaintances and friends.

Maggie was a very loving, generous, happy disposition, always scattering sunshine and happiness by her bright words and merry ways. Maggie was the life and sunshine in the home that she has left. How sadly we shall miss her dear face and laughing ways, none but God can know. Though we miss her, we thank God that our darling is at rest.

She was very sick two weeks, but suffered intensely to the last. (Unreadable portion) Maggie looked rational and said, “Now, I am ready to go.” Maggie leaves to mourn her loss, a father, mother, three sisters and one brother. All were with her till the last. She has many relatives and a host of friends. Everything that loving hand could do to make Maggie comfortable was done and she was so pleased and grateful for everything that was done for her. She said she hated to be so much trouble to everyone and would try to do something for them sometime. On account of measles and the other children being sick, only a very short service was held at the house on Saturday afternoon and she was laid to rest in the Peru cemetery.
