MATILDA PRATT

Mrs. Matilda Pratt, who has been in a critical condition for several weeks, died at the home of her son, Dr. G. M. Pratt, on Thursday evening, March 5th. She was born in Pennsylvania in 1835, removing to Columbus City, Iowa in 1856. The family have resided in Winterset since 1892. Mrs. Pratt is survived by her son and a sister.

MRS. PRATT DIES

Death Calls Aged Winterset Women. Funeral Services t Crawfordsville

Mrs. Matilda Pratt, mother of Dr. George M. Pratt died Thursday evening about six o’clock at his residence on West Court avenue. Mrs. Pratt had been sick for several weeks and her death had been expected for several days previous to its occurrence. Mrs. Pratt was nearly seventy-nine years old and her death was due to old age.

Mrs. Pratt came to Iowa from Pennsylvania in 1856 and settled in Louisa county. Her husband died many years ago. After her son, Dr. Pratt, had commenced the practice of dentistry she made her home with him and came here with him in 1892. She was a strong woman with unimpaired powers until her last illness. Many friends in Winterset mourn her loss.

Short funeral services were held at the residence Friday afternoon the body being taken to Crawfordsville 9in Washington county for interment that evening. Funeral services were held at the home of a brother there. Dr. and Mrs. Pratt, her only relatives in Winterset, accompanied the body to Crawfordsville.
