Burned to Death

Mrs. W. A. Warner, formerly Miss May Mattox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Mattox of this city, was burned to death at her home in Commerce last Sunday, and her husband was badly burned while trying to save his wife. Mrs. Warner died about midnight. She was building the fire with gasoline when the can exploded throwing the flames all over her. She rushed into the yard and threw herself into a tub of water, but in spite of all the efforts made to save her she was literally cooked to death. She is survived by her husband and three children.

Mrs. Warner was well known here having spent the most of her life in this city, and the news of her horrible death came as a great shock to her many friends. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved husband and relatives.
