Guy Carlton Perkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Perkins, was born at Winterset, Iowa, July 20, 1890, and died at Los Angeles, Cal., Nov. 17, 1910, aged 20 years, 3 months and 27 days.

At the age of 14 Guy was converted and became a member of the Baptist church. He faithfully kept its pledges which with the good training his parents gave him, crowned his intellect with judgment and fixed moral principles.

Guy attended the Winterset public schools, finishing his first high school year there. He then entered the C.C.C. College in Des Moines, where he was educated in telegraphy. In this work he soon became proficient, and held a number of responsible positions.

Following an attack of pneumonia in April, 1910, his health failed, and it was thought a change of climate might be beneficial. He, therefore, went to Wyoming, then to Idaho, and later to Hillyard, Wash., where his parents live. Encouraged by the hope that health would be restored, he left for Albuquerque, New Mex., via Los Angeles, one month prior to his death. Reaching this city, some of his former strength returned, but in a short time he became steadily weaker until the end came.

Immediately upon receipt of a telegram announcing his final illness, his father left for Los Angeles, not knowing of his son’s death until he reached that city. Accompanied by his father, the body was brought to the home in Hillyard, Wash., and on Sunday, Nov. 27, Guy was laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery, Spokane, Wash. Services were held in the Baptist church, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Thomas M. Patterson. Hundreds of friends assembled to pay their tribute of respect to the deceased and to the stricken family. The beautiful flowers that surrounded the casket testified to the esteem in which Guy was held.

Besides his parents, there are left to mourn, six sisters—Mrs. F. A. Garretson, of Winterset, Iowa; Mrs. Dwight Jones, Dodson, Mont.; Mrs. R. P. Winnick, Saco, Mont.; Mrs. V. S. Vaupel, Spokane, Wash.; Loraine and Bessie, and a brother, Chas. Perkins, of Superior, Neb.
