James Johnson Kerr died at the home of his son, Wm. Kerr on Friday, November 25th, at the age 93 years, 10 months and 8 days. The remains were taken to Anita for burial.

Obituary

James Johnson Kerr was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 17, 1817 and died at the home of his son, William, near Winterset, Iowa, November 24, 1910 at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 8 days. When a young man, he came to Warren county, Ohio, where he was united in marriage to Mary Johnson in January, 1844, with whom he lived until her death 54 years later. Six children were born to them, three of whom are living: William of Winterset, James A. of Creston, Iowa, and Nancy Pierce of Scottsville, Kansas. The younger daughter, Martha Jane, lies in Mahaska county, Iowa, the elder son, Perry, near Los Angeles, Calif., while the oldest daughter, Melissa, sleeps by the side of her mother, at Anita, Iowa. The funeral services occurred at the home last Saturday, and interment was at Anita, the former home on last Sunday. Rev. A. A. Walburn conducted the services.
