Obituary of Nancy Jane Guilliam

Nancy Jane Guilliam was born in Indiana March 5, 1849, and died Sept. 4, 1910, aged 61 years, 5 months and 29 days. She moved with her parents to Iowa in 1852. In 1865 she was united in marriage to Thomas D. Foster. To this union were born five children of which three survive her, Mrs. J. L. Allen, Mrs. T. E. Husted and Mr. T. D. Foster. Her husband departed this life in 1873. In 1879 she was united in marriage to Caleb Rollins, and to this union was born one child which died at the age of seven years.

She leaves a husband and three children to mourn the loss of a loving wife and a kind mother. She gave her heart to God in her early life, and was faithful to this promise to the end. Ever ready to do His will and lend a helping hand to those around her. She was loved most by those who knew her best.

Mother, thy gentle voice is hushed
They warm true heart is stilled,
And on thy pale and peaceful face
Is resting death’s cold chill.

Thy hands are clasped upon thy breast
We have kissed thy marble brow,
And in our aching hearts we know
We have no mother now.

Note 1: Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
Note 2: Transcribed as published. Maiden name is "Gilliam" per headstone of parents.
