As we go to press we hear of the death of Mrs. Frank Hazen, of Jefferson township, who died early this morning after a short illness. We did not learn the particulars.

Obituary

Amanda Maria Hazen McDonald was born April 10th, 1857, in Guernsey county, Ohio, and died near Van Meter, Iowa, June 23, 1910, aged 53 years, 2 months and 13 days. With her parents she came to Iowa in 1859 and located in Jefferson township, Madison county.

March 17, 1880, she was married to Frank P. Hazen. This union was blessed with three sons, William Emerson, Charles Everett and Irwin Leroy. Besides the husband and sons she leaves three grandchildren, four sisters and one brother.

She was converted at 16 years of age and joined the United Presbyterian church in 1897 and was a most faithful and efficient worker until failing health compelled her to discontinue the more arduous duties. She remained true to the faith all her days. She was a tender, loving and true wife, mother and neighbor.

She was buried Friday at 2:00 in the Union Chapel cemetery. The sermon was preached by Rev. Jameson, pastor of the United Presbyterian church of Des Moines.
