Obituary

Jefferson F. Jones was born near Lexington, Perry county, Ohio, August 29, 1832 and died April 2, 1910 at 8 o’clock p.m.

Mr. Jones lived in Ohio until 1861 when he enlisted in the service of his country and served three years during the war of the rebellion, when he was honorably discharged for faithful service.

October 30, 1861 he was married to Miss Margaret Cassidy. To them were born six children, Mrs. Myrtle Murphy, Des Moines; Miss Mabel Jones, Winterset; Mrs. Verdie Rundlet, Detroit, Minn., Mr. Dudley and Mr. Dwight Jones, of Dodson, Montana and Frank, of Winterset.

Mr. Jones had been in poor health for a number of years as a result of injuries received during the war, and while it was expected he could not live any great length of time yet his death was sudden when it came. He leaves his wife, six children and a very large circle of relatives and friends to mourn him.

The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon at the home. Pitzer Post G.A.R. of which the deceased was a member, attended in a body and marched to the cemetery to the beat of the muffled drum and paid the last sad rites to their departed comrade.
