Former Bevington Woman Was Winterset High Graduate
Funeral services for Doris Lodge, member of a well known Bevington family, whose death occurred at Des Moines last Saturday, were held Tuesday from the Blair Chapel church near Bevington and burial was made in the cemetery there. The Rev. Mr. Teevwissen was in charge.
Miss Lodge was 34 years of age. She took her own life at her home in Des Moines, where she had been teaching in the public schools for the last several years.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Lodge of Bevington, where she was born June 26, 1913. She attended grade school in that community, and graduated from the Winterset high school with the class of 1930. She studied for two years at Simpson college in Indianola, where she was affiliated with Delta Delta Delta, national social sorority. She received her B.A. degree from Drake university in Des Moines with the class of 1940.
For the last three and one half years she had been teaching science at Callahan Junior high school in Des Moines. Prior to that she had taught in Lee township of this county, at Johnston’s Station, Earlham, and Newton. She was a member of various professional and community organizations.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Merrill Husted of Winterset.
