Former Winterset Resident Succumbs at Age of 80 Years
Mrs. Margaret Rogers, member of a well known Madison county family, died Saturday, Jan. 3, at a Des Moines nursing home. She was 80 years of age and had been in failing health for some time.
Mrs. Rogers was the former Margaret McNamara, daughter of Martin and Mary Linnane McNamara, and was born in Lee township of this county on Aug. 3, 1867. Her early life was spent in that community.
She was married in 1904 to Hugh Rogers. Practically all of their married life was spent on a farm near St. Marys, in Warren county. Their only child, a boy, died in infancy, and Mr. Rogers died about 1927.
Following her husband’s death, Mrs. Rogers lived for many years in Winterset.
Her nearest surviving relatives are her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday from St. John’s Catholic church in Des Moines, and burial was made in St. Patrick’s cemetery in Lee township.
