Chas. Bruce, whose illness was noted in these columns last week, passed away on Thursday afternoon July 29th. Short services were held at the home on Sunday morning and the remains taken to Blair Chapel in South township for burial. The Masonic order of St. Charles and the Royal Neighbors of America participated in the services at the grave.

The death of this young man is of more than usual sadness, being stricken with incurable disease while in the vigor of young manhood. He was a man of exemplary character and a large number of friends and former neighbors in attendance at his funeral attested the esteem in which he was held. Bereft by his death are his father, John Bruce of Patterson, his wife, and three small children.
