WINNIE MAHAN, WINTERSET

Winifred Jones Worley Mahan went to Heaven to be with her Savior on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Winnie was born March 26, 1922, to Fred R. and Beulah (Holmes) Jones. Upon Beulah’s death following Winnie’s birth, Winnie was adopted by Wes and Essie Worley.

Winnie is survived by her sons, Michael of Winterset and Paul (Kathy) of Lakewood, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Janice Glatt of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandsons, Matthew (Chris) Mahan (and their children Jessica and Kara) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Clint Mahan of Xenia, Ohio, and Wade (Kristin) Mahan of Irvine, Calif.; sister, Maxine Wilson of St. Charles; and cousins, nieces, a nephew, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by both sets of parents; her husband, John W. Mahan; son, Mark Mahan; and sisters, Lois Banta and Pauline Bulwan.

Her funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the Grace Baptist Church with burial in the Winterset Cemetery.

Winnie was a 1940 graduate of Winterset High School, a homemaker, farmer’s wife, and worked in retail sales for many years. She was involved in many church activities and had been a member of The Republican Women, Winterset Music Club, Hoosier Prairie Club, Kiwanis, Madison County Historical Society, and Grace Baptist Church.

Memorials sent to the family will go to the Grace Baptist Church or Middle River Hospice.

McCalley-Collins Funeral Home was in charge of her arrangements.
