J. T. B. Ritchey, aged 90 years, died at his home near Grand View Park Des Moines, Monday morning. Mr. Ritchey, who was one of Iowa’s oldest settlers, was born at Rushville, Ill., in 1819. As a boy he removed with his parents to Madison county, Iowa, where he lived until about twenty years ago, when he moved to Des Moines. Mr. Ritchey is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters, Frank and Terry, Mrs. W. H. DeFord, Jennie and Emma Ritchey. Mr. Ritchey’s last home in Madison county was on the farm now owned by Geo. Jickling, southwest of the city.
The remains were brought here on Wednesday and interred in the Rock City cemetery.
