Death of W. H. Cason

W. H. Cason, a young man thirty-two years of age, formerly of St. Charles, but who for the past year has made his home with his sister, Mrs. J. A. Way, of this city, died last Sunday morning after a long illness from tuberculosis. Mr. Cason was a man of many friends in and around St. Charles as well as here where he had become well acquainted. For several years he had been suffering from the dread disease which took him off. He was unmarried.

W. H. Cason was born in Madison county, Iowa, July 28th, 1866 and died in Winterset, April 4th, 1909, aged 42 years, 6 months and 8 days. During his comparatively brief life, he suffered much, but never was heard to complain of his lot. His warmest friends were those who knew and understood him best. During his latter days, he expressed a wish that the end might come and assured his friends that he had no fear of death as he was prepared to die.

He leaves one brother, J. A. Cason of Ness City, Kansas and one sister, Mrs. J. A. Way, of Winterset, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday from the M.E. church of St. Charles, Rev. ReQua conducting the service and the Masonic fraternity assisting in the services at the grave.

Victim of Tuberculosis Dies Sunday. Funeral Held in St. Charles

William Cason died Sunday morning at the home of his brother-in-law, J. A. Way. His death has been expected for many weeks. He was taken to a Davenport hospital in the winter but he failed to improve in health. He has been at the Way home since.

Cason was thrown from a horse twenty years ago and his chest was crushed. He partially recovered but his lungs were affected and his health has been failing ever since. In recent years he has been a sufferer from tuberculosis.

Mr. Cason was 41 years old. He is survived by a brother James Cason, of Ness City, Kansas, and one sister Mrs. J. A. Way of Winterset.

The body was taken to St. Charles Tuesday morning and the funeral services and interment occurred there.
