HELEN DUDNEY, WINTERSET

Helen L. Dudney, 88, died April 1, 2010, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 6, at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles. Burial was at Peru Cemetery. Memorials in Helen’s name may be directed to her family. Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.

Helen Dudney was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Warren County to Maurice and Mabel (Haines) McVay and was a 1939 graduate of New Virginia High School. Her marriage to Lyle G. Dudney took place Aug. 30, 1941, in Albany, Mo. Helen, a homemaker and farmwife, was an active member of Deer Creek Church, where she played piano and assisted with Vacation Bible School.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Scrivner and Dorothy Fichter; an infant brother; and an infant granddaughter, Charity Dudney.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle, of Lorimor; two sons, Kenneth Dudney of St. Charles and Maurice Dudney of Urbandale; one daughter, Linda Stalcup of Lorimor; two sisters, Arleen McCuddin of New Virginia and Alice Banker of Altoona; and nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
