Elijah Collins, who had a stroke of paralysis about a year ago, died at this home in Hanley last Saturday.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. church in Hanley last Sabbath, conducted by Rev. Olmstead of Des Moines and his remains were laid to rest in the St. Charles cemetery.

Elijah Collins was born in Ohio in 1833 and died in Hanley, Madison county, December 11, 1914. He moved to Madison county in 1857.
In 1860 he was married to Miss Susan Ray. To this union was born four boys, Lemon, Anderson, Martin and Ritchard. In 1866 his wife passed to the great beyond. In 1867 he was again married to Mrs. Samantha E. Buchanan. To this union was born five boys and two girls, Charles, Harry, Lula, Lee, Herman, Mollie and Walter.
Besides his wife and eight children he leaves one sister, Mrs. Sarah Pomeroy, and a host of friends to mourn his death.
