Lloyd W. Schirm, 88, of Winterset died Feb. 28, 2010, at Bright Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines.
Memorial services were held today (Wednesday, March 3) at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Burial of the cremains was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa.
Lloyd Schirm was born March 27, 1921, in Madison County to Alfred and Blanche (Tannatt) Schirm. He married Faye Nichols and to this marriage were born four children — Fonda, Patricia, Connie and Rick. He later married Doris McKinzie, who had three daughters — Sharon Kingsbury, Bonnie Newman, and Barbara McKinzie. Lloyd was a lifetime resident of Madison County, where he worked as a farmer, carpenter and truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, and his son, Rick.
He is survived by three daughters — Fonda Bass of Winterset, Patricia Tracy of Ankeny, and Connie Patton of Longmont, Colo.; a brother, Bob Schirm of Urbandale; and 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
