OBITUARY JANE WIGHT HAMILTON MAINS

Jane Wight was born in Harden county Ky., Jan. 25, 1823 and died April 24, 1901, aged 78y 2m 29ds.

When a child she moved with her parents to Rushville, Ind. In the year 1837 she was united in wedlock to W. J. Hamilton, living in Indiana and Illinois until the year 1873, when she with her husband and children came to Avoca, Iowa, living here for a few years they moved to Winterset, Iowa, where the husband died in 1884. Two daughters and one son blessed this union, who preceded the mother to their final reward. in the year 1869 she united with the Baptist church near Kewanee, Illinois where her Church membership still remains.

Ten grandchildren, seven of whom and three great grandchildren survive her, have been able to call her blessed, The 1866 was a very trying year to her. A devoted father, two loving daughters, a grandson and a daughter-in-law were called to leave the home made with hands. After the death of her children, five grandchildren were cared for by her.

In Sept. 1869, she became the wife of Henry Mains and has lived in the same home where death hounded her ever since. She leaves a husband, two brothers, two sisters, seven grandchildren and a multitude of friends to mourn her loss to us.

Her body was interred 1901 in Beaver twp, Guthrie Co., Iowa.
