David G. Rowe was born in Westmoreland county, Pa., Nov. 22, 1840, and died at his home in Macksburg Sept. 29, 1908. He moved to Davis county, Ia., in 1855 and came to Madison county in 1875. He united with the United Brethren church in 1860. He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Riley Jan. 20, 1867 and to them four children were born, Minnie, Smith, Charles and Hugh, Minnie dying in infancy.
Mr. Rowe was one of Grand River township’s most highly respected and prosperous farmers, a man who made friends by the score and never lost them. He will be greatly missed from that community.
The funeral services were held from the home Thursday, Oct. 1, conducted by Rev. ReQua of this city, assisted by the Masonic order of which he was an honored member. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community.

D. G. Rowe, of Grand River township, and father of Chas. Rowe, of this place, passed away on Tuesday evening at his home just northeast of Macksburg. Last winter he was stricken with paralysis from which he never recovered though he rallied somewhat and was able to leave his room until about two weeks ago when he suffered a relapse. He was a man well known, well liked and highly respected in that part of the county.
Funeral services will be held today and interment made in the Macksburg cemetery. The Masonic order of this place will have charge of the burial services.

Page 1David G. Rowe was born in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, November 22, 1840. He moved to Davis county, Iowa in 1855 and to Grand River township, this county, in 1875. He died at his home near Macksburg, Sept. 29, 1908, after a long illness from paralysis, aged 67 years, 11 months, and 9 days.
He united with the United Brethren church in 1860. Enlisted as a member of Company B Seventh Iowa cavalry in September, 1861 and served in the army of the rebellion until its close. He was married to Sarah Riley Jan. 20, 1867. To this union were born four children, Minnie, who died in infancy, Smith, who lives on the home farm, Charles, of Winterset, and Hugh, of Des Moines. He was an honored and useful member of the Masonic fraternity for more than twenty-nine years uniting with that order in 1881.
He was a man of kindly disposition, generous, impulsive and unswerving integrity and in death is sincerely mourned by a wide circle of friends.
Funeral services were held from the home on Thrusday, October 1st, Rev. Wilbur ReQua, of Winterset, conducted the services, the Masonic order of Winterset having charge of the burial rites.
