DORIS BOOTS, DES MOINES

Doris Ruth Boots, 84, of Des Moines died Feb. 17, 2010.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 22, at McLarens Chapel in West Des Moines. Burial was at Resthaven Cemetery.

Doris Boots was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Scott Township, Madison County, to Lloyd Franklin and Margaret Charlotte (Picken) Jones. She was a graduate of Winterset High School and attended a commercial college in Des Moines. Doris also worked for Meredith Publishing Company. Her marriage to Charles Robert “Bob” Boots took place Jan. 3, 1946. They made their home in Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lyle Andrew, and three sisters — Martha Kathryn Ford, Geraldine Grubbs, and Thelma Berniece Jones.

Doris Ruth Boots, 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, February 22 at McLaren's Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Doris was born August 15, 1925 in Winterset, Iowa to Lloyd and Margaret (Picken) Jones. She was a member of First Federated Church and enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center in Des Moines, square dancing and playing bingo.

Doris is survived by her husband, Robert Boots of Des Moines; two sons, Bill (Candy) Boots of Wake Forest, North Carolina and Chuck Boots of Des Moines; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and sister, Garnetta Jones of Winterset.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at McLaren's Chapel.
