CATHERINE BALTUTAT, DESOTO

Catherine Mae Baltutat, 53, of DeSoto died Feb. 17, 2010, at Kavanagh Hospice Home in Des Moines.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Lorimor Community Center with Pastor Alan Bridges officiating. Burial will be at Lorimor Cemetery. Open visitation will be from 2–8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston, with the family receiving friends from 6–8 p.m. Memorial donations accepted by the family will go to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Catherine Baltutat was born Feb. 27, 1956, in Des Moines to Charles Irvin and Eva Mae (Lemon) Noonan and was a 1974 graduate of Winterset High School. She was united in marriage to Mark Baltutat on March 5, 1974, in Winterset and they eventually settled in the Davenport area with their children. They remained together until 1985 at the time of their dissolution. Catherine settled in DeSoto and achieved her Associate of Arts and Associate of Applied Sciences degrees from Des Moines Area Community College. She then started her career in medical laboratory sciences as a technician for Des Moines General Hospital for three years. She then began working for the United States Postal Service, where she served as a rural carrier in Waukee for an additional seven years. Catherine’s last career move was in working for Norwest (Wells Fargo) Financial as a mail auditor for another six years up until her diagnosis of cancer.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

She is survived by her father, Charles Noonan of Patterson; one daughter, Wendy Scott of Des Moines; one son, August Baltutat of Altoona; a brother, Edward C. Noonan of Minburn; two sisters, Susan Noonan of Stanton and Patricia Barnes of Menifee, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
