Obituary – Mrs. Olive Wauchope

Olive A. McCormick was born in Illinois, Oct 1, 1848 and died in Winterset, Iowa, Dec. 11, 1911, age 63 years, 3 months and 10 days. She grew to womanhood in Illinois and in 1872 was married to Joseph Wauchope. To this union seven children were born, four of whom are now living, two sons and two daughters, three of them whom are present today.

She lost her husband by death in 1893 and came to Iowa with her family about ten years ago, and located on a farm in Scott township, this county, where they resided until eight years ago, when they moved to Winterset, and resided there until her death.

She was converted and united with the M. E. church at about the age of 18, and was a member of that church in Winterset, at the time of her death. The children tell me she was a good mother, always willing to do and sacrifice for them. She suffered much during the last year. We rejoice in her faith and today lay her body away in the hope of the resurrection.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Walburn, and burial in the Winterset cemetery.
