One Elizabeth Mitchell, wife of A.F. Mitchell, peacefully passed away at her home two miles east of Truro at 4 o’clock Tuesday morning Feb. 26, 1907.

Although physicians and friends did all possible to sooth and relieve pain, her four months of suffering and death were extremely sad, yet she bore it all with angelic patience and christian fortitude. During her life, she was always ready to show attention and kindness to all within her reach who might in anyway be suffering, and this seemed to be one of her greatest pleasures.

She was born near Plainfield, Coshocton county, Ohio, August 28, 1849. When four years old her family moved to Bird’s Run, Guernsey county, Ohio, where on May 18, 1867, she married A.F. Mitchell, and after helping him sell goods in the old town for thirteen years, she moved with her husband and little family of three children to Denver, Colorado. After living there nearly five years, she came to Iowa in 1884 and settled on the present homestead.

Her oldest son, R.P. lives at Truro, the daughter, Alfarata, died in Denver when nine years old, and her other son Jesse lives with his family in Western Nebraska. She lived a useful and busy life and died loved and respected by all who knew her. Her parting request to all was to prepare to meet her in heaven.

Her funeral was preached by her pastor, Rev. Thompson of the Truro Christian church at the Ohio Baptist church, and her body was left to rest in the cemetery near by.
