Gladys M. Nelson, Peru

Services for Gladys M. Nelson, 84, rural Peru, who died March 8 at her residence were held Saturday, March 12, at the Peru United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ann Louise Weisenfluh officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.

Born in Peru on Dec. 3, 1903, she was the daughter of Andrew and Mary Hogg Hann. She was married to Ray Nelson on Dec. 12, 1923 at Peru and was a lifetime resident of Madison County, living all but eight years on the same farm.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Peru United Methodist Church, the Church Women’s Society and Social Circle.

Survivors include a son, Andrew of Ankeny; daughters, Darlene Teachout of Piedmont, S.D., and Betty Dales of Norwalk; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister and a grandchild. Her husband died July 22, 1986.
