WILLIAM O. SAYLES Killed By The Cars

W. O. Sayles, a son of Otis Sayles of Section 25 Webster township was killed Tuesday while braking freight cars at Prescott, a small station west of Creston. He had entered the employment of the Burlington as a brakesman and was on his first trip out when he was killed. The details of the accident are meager but it is known that he was breaking cars when struck by an approaching car and instantly killed. His body was thrown from the track and suffered no mutilation other than the bruises inflicted by contact with the car.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Pleasant View church in Webster township.

The family moved to their present home from Greenfield about a year ago. The unfortunate young man was well known in Winterset, having been engaged in the immigration land business last year with headquarters here. During the month of October, he worked for the Madisonian in the capacity of a solicitor and since that time has been at the home of his parents in Webster township. The accident is one of distressing sadness and entitles the family to the fullest measure of sympathy.

Note: Burial was at Pleasant View cemetery.
