January 1929Charles W. Hilton was born in Madison county, Iowa, November 25, 1859; departed from this life January 11, 1929, at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 16 days.
In the year of 1874 he came from Iowa to this community, where he has since resided.
He was stricken with illness New Year's day. The next day he was removed from his home west of Ravenwood to the home of his sister, Mrs. Augusta Bailey, where he remained until death claimed him.
His father, mother, two sisters and two brothers had preceded him in the journey to the Great Beyond.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Augusta E. Bailey of Ravenwood; Mrs. Elizabeth Jordon of Hollywood, Calif, and Mrs. Samantha Simmons of Huntington Park, Calif; one brother, Edward Hilton of Parnell; and twelve nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held at the Ravenwood Methodist Church Sunday, January 13, at 11 o'clock A.M., conducted by the pastor. Rev. E. M. Hines, and interment was in Oak Hill cemetery six miles west of town (Maryville).
