Elizabeth Jane Duff.

Elizabeth Jane Duff was born October 31, 1829, near Cambridge, in Guernsey county, Ohio, and died January 19, 1908.

In 1885 the family removed to Winterset, Iowa, and a short time afterward they moved to a farm about ten miles north of the city, which place has been her home ever since.

Early in life she united with the United Presbyterian church and continued to be a faithful, consistent member until the end. She was indeed a rare character. She was faithful, patient, kind and cheerful. Her life was thoroughly unselfish and was devoted entirely to the service of others. She was always taking the hard place that others might have the easier ones.

Being the eldest daughter any large family, the care of the home fell upon her shoulders at the death of her mother. Again in later years at the death of a sister, she took the motherless children to her home and care for them until they were grown.

Her humble, helpful, unselfish Christian life is a beckoning influence in the community to the service of the Master. We know that as her eyes closed to the things of time, they opened upon the beauty and glory of the eternal morning.
