Randy Joe Clark, 54, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Feb. 10) at the First Christian Church in Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery, Adel. Arrangements were handled by McCalley Funeral Home, Adel.

Randy was born Feb. 6, 1956, in Redfield to Jack and Bonnie (Wilkie) Clark. He grew up and attended school in Earlham and excelled in many sports. He participated in boxing from when he was a little boy until he was in his mid twenties. He won the Iowa Silver Gloves when he was 15 and represented Iowa in the National Silver Gloves. He also won the Iowa Golden Gloves Heavyweight Championship in 1977. Randy founded and coached the Earlham Boxing Club and loved to teach kids how to box.

On May 18, 1974, he was united in marriage to Linda Stephen at the First Christian Church in Adel. Following their marriage he worked as a carpenter in the Des Moines area and started his own business, Clark Construction.

In 1983, Randy moved his family to Creston where he and Linda owned Supreme Cleaners for 12 years. In 1993, he moved his family to Adel and purchased Plaza Cleaners, with locations in Urbandale and Waukee. In 2002, Randy co-founded Iowa Trenchless, a boring and tunneling company with his son, and in 2008, he and Linda took over Stephen Cleaners in Adel.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Jason (Shari) of Panora; daughter, Kami of Waukee; two grandchildren, Ashley and Wyatt of Panora; mother, Bonnie Dunn of Des Moines; father and mother-in-law, Don (Mickie) Stephen of Adel; sisters, Dee (Randy) Lillie of Earlham and Linda Smithey of Orrick, Mo.; brother, Gary (Tylin) of Lawson, Mo.; sister-in-law, Jan (Darrell) Ohrt; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Christian Church in Adel.

Randy Joe Clark, 54, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the First Christian Church in Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Visitation began after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family greeted friends from 4-7 pm followed by a prayer service at 7 pm.

In 1983 Randy moved his family to Creston where he and Linda owned Supreme Cleaners for 12 years. He made many friends while in Creston and loved to golf and play cards. In 1993 he moved his family to Adel and purchased Plaza Cleaners with locations in Urbandale and Waukee. In 2002 he co-founded Iowa Trenchless, a boring and tunneling company with his son, and in 2008 he and Linda took over Stephen Cleaners in Adel.

Randy’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids, Ashley and Wyatt. He always loved having friends and family over for barbeques and swimming parties. Randy especially looked forward to and enjoyed taking his kids and grandkids on a family vacation.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son Jason (Shari) of Panora; daughter, Kami of Waukee; two grandchildren, Ashley and Wyatt of Panora; mother, Bonnie Dunn of Des Moines; father and mother-in-law, Don (Mickie) Stephen of Adel; sisters, Dee (Randy) Lillie of Earlham and Linda Smithey of Orrick, MO; brother, Gary (Tylin) of Lawson, MO; sister-in-law, Jan (Darrell) Ohrt; and many nieces and nephews.
