Mrs. Newell, who has been sick for sometime, died at her home Saturday evening. The funeral was held at the Blue Front church Monday.

Obituary

Martha J. Acheson was born in Muskingum county, Ohio, Feb. 18th, 1838. She was married to Joseph R. Newell, in Muscatine county, Iowa, in 1858. In the year 1869, they removed to Madison county, Iowa, locating in Lincoln township, where both spent the remainder of their lives. Three children were born to this union: Chas. H., Newell, Newton and Mrs. Wm. Ryan. She leaves one brother, Samuel Acheson and one sister, Mrs. W. T. Orr to mourn her death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Atwood of the Baptist church in the Blue Front church in Lincoln township, Monday, Jan. 13th. The interment was in the Gordon cemetery.
