ANDREW CRANE, URBANDALE

Andrew Wilhoyte Crane, beloved son of Fred and Anne Crane, died of lung cancer on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.

Drew (“Andy”) was born in Des Moines on July 17, 1956. He attended Perkins, Greenwood and Callanan Schools and was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and Drake University. He worked for IBM in Houston and for Microware Systems in Santa Clara, California and Des Moines. In recent years he lived in Winterset, where he participated in many activities. He had recently moved to Urbandale.

In addition to his parents, Drew is survived by his brothers, Larry Crane of Urbandale and Donald Crane of Vietnam; his sisters, Anna (Don) Theobald of Vancouver, Washington and Lisa (Brion) Oakley of Beaverdale; nephew, Nathan Oakley and nieces, McKinley Theobald, Alesia Crane and Lisa Linh Crane; his uncles, David Crane and Felix (Sandra) Miles and his cousin, Madison (Lisa) Miles.

His devoted companion was Kenna Neighbors-Payne. Andy considered her children, Cale Neighbors and Dani Miller, and especially Dani’s daughters, Lilly, Annabelle and McKenzie, as his children and grandchildren.

Visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at Iles Funeral Homes – Dunn’s Chapel, followed by private family services and cremation.

In accordance with Drew’s wishes an outdoor Celebration of Life for all his many friends and family will be held when weather permits. A notice will be published when the date is set.
