BEVERLEY JOAN GRANDFIELD, St. Charles

Beverley Grandfield, 73, passed away at her home on January 7, 2010. Beverley married Robert Clark Grandfield on September 26, 1954. They lived in California briefly before returning to raise three daughters and work their farm outside Lorimor. In 2006 she and Robert moved to St. Charles.

Upon retiring, Beverley delighted in warm winters in Arizona, where she and Robert made many dear friends. Always on the move with a desire to realize all the joys in life, Beverley and Robert rolled from state to state in their RV, seeing America’s natural beauty, conquering rifle shoots, and visiting family and friends. She was dedicated to attending every game, recital and 'grandparent day’ of her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved cross-stitch, good food, reading, playing games and hours of chitchat with her family and friends.

Beverley was proud of the loving family she raised in fifty-five years of marriage. She is survived by husband, Robert; daughters, Anita (Darrell) Brown of St. Charles, Janice (Ron) Brown of West Des Moines, and Brenda (Terry) Loy of Indianola; mother, Edith (Carns) Clifton Baird of Escondido, California; brother, George "Jack" (Doris) Clifton of Duncanville, Texas; and sister, Barbara (Lyle) Songer of Escondido, California; seven grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. Beverley was preceded in death by her father, Emert Clifton.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Lorimor. Immediately following the service a gathering with the family will be held until 4 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and Iowa Health Home Care Hospice. Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset is handling arrangements.
