Our neighborhood was saddened on April 2nd, by the death of one of our old time residents, Mrs. Elizabeth Hays, widow of Ebenezer Hays and mother of John Hays, of Winterset, Rile and Will Hays, of Earlham, Thomas, of Montana, and one daughter Mrs. R. F. Hays, of Stillwater, Oklahoma. She died after a lingering illness of nearly 3 years. Another good old neighbor and friend has gone to her long rest. She will be sadly missed.

Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Hays

Mrs. Elizabeth Hays died at her home in Madison township near the Worthington church last Saturday morning, aged 71 years and 4 months. She with her husband, Ebenezer Hays moved to this county from Decatur, Ill., in 1865 and have since lived on the farm they first occupied. She was the mother of seven children, five of whom survive her. Her husband died very suddenly about a year ago and since his death she has lived with her son C. W. Hays on the home farm. The funeral services were held at the home conducted by Rev. E. E. Bennett, pastor of the Christian church last Sunday, and the body was laid to rest in the Worthington cemetery.
