HARVEY TAYLOR, Norwalk

Harvey L. Taylor, 63, of Norwalk died Nov. 29, 2009.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Norwalk Christian Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Norwalk Christian Church. Online condolences may be made at www.overtonfunerals.com.

Harvey Taylor was born Sept. 13, 1946, in Corydon to Roy and Juanita (Robinson) Taylor and was a 1965 graduate of Interstate 35 High School. Following his high school graduation, he attended Lincoln Technical Institute. Harvey married Twyla Whitlow and they resided in Norwalk for the past 40 years. He owned Harvey’s Automotive and Machine in Norwalk, which he founded in 1989. He also was a member of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, Norwalk Lions Club, and the Norwalk Kiwanis and an elder in the Norwalk Christian Church. Harvey and Twyla were honored with the Citizens of the Year Award from the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce in 2006-07. He also was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award from the Lions Club. Harvey helped coordinate and sponsor a car in the annual Soap Box Derby.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, John Taylor; and a sister, Maurita Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Twyla, of Norwalk; one son, Jerry Taylor of Cumming; one daughter, Diana Hanner of Polk City; a sister, Carol Nieters; three brothers, Bill Taylor, Kenny Smith, and Dan Taylor; and two grandchildren.
