Local Tips

Josiah James died at his home in Scott township Saturday at 11:15 a.m. The funeral took place at the Baptist cemetery just north of town, conducted by Mrs. Reed. The remains were interred in the Baptist cemetery. Mr. James was an old settler in this county and his many friends extend their sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Zion Hill

Josiah James was born in North Carolina on Dec. 25, 1810, lived there till he was 5 years old when he moved to Indiana with his brothers and sisters, his parents both being dead. Moved to Iowa in the year 1852, and continued to live there till his death, which occurred on Saturday, Jan. 30th, 1904, making his age 93 years 1 month and 5 days.
