St. Charles

It is with regret we must chronicle the death of two of St. Charles brightest and best young people. We refer to the sudden death of James Irwin by accidental cause on Sunday Feb. 8th and that of Miss Bessie Law on Tuesday Feb. 10th.

Mr. Irwin was one of those men whom it was a pleasure to know and his sudden demise was a great shock to his family and a multitude of friends. Not being able to send items last week, we pay this tribute of respect to his memory. He was an exemplary young man, respected by all and loved by those who knew him best. His remains were brought to St. Charles and funeral services were held Tuesday Feb. 10th, conducted by Rev. Farley. The Masonic fraternity of which he was a member, were in charge. At 1:50 p.m. the remains were taken by train to New Virginia and laid to rest by the side of his father. The family receive the sympathy of all our people in this unexpected calamity.
