Died at his residence in this city shortly after twelve o'clock, July 27, 1906, Mr. John S. W. Cole, age 59 years. The deceased came to Madison county from Pennsylvania with his parents in 1864, where he resided at the time of his demise.
During the year 1875 he was married to Miss Floria Kester and to this union were born six children, five of whom survive their father, Mr. Elmer Cole, Miss Ethel Cole, Mrs. Bertha Edwards, Miss Elizabeth Cole and Miss Lenore Cole. These with their mother and an only sister of Mr. Cole, Mrs. Goodwin, of Des Moines, remain to mourn his loss.
The funeral services were conducted from his late residence by Rev. Fred Berry and was largely attended.
