Mary Elizabeth Rhone, 90, of Truro died Nov. 8, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 14, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with Father Kenneth Halbur officiating. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery in rural Truro. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Mary Rhone was born Oct. 11, 1919, to Henry and Ethel (Morgan) Robshaw and was a graduate of Peru High School. Her marriage to Glen Franklin Rhone took place Oct. 11, 1937. Mary and Glen resided on a farm between Truro and Peru. Following the destruction of their farm in 1979 by a tornado, they moved to the Colonial Apartments in Truro.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jim; one daughter, Patricia Gabel; five brothers — Orville Armstrong, Marvin Armstrong, Merrill Robshaw, George Robshaw and Johnny Robshaw; and three sisters, Edna Matthews, Ruby Armstrong and Mildred Pickens.
She is survived by one son, Terry “Skip” Rhone of Van Meter, and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
