Don Gilbert Harper, 84, of Lorimor died Nov. 9, 2009.

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 13, at Grace Baptist Church in Winterset. Burial was at Barney Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Murray Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

Don Harper was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Barney to John and Verdia (Gilbert) Harper. His marriage to Mary Ann Gardner took place in 1943. Don was a lifetime farmer in Union County. He also was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant son.

He is survived by his children — Nancy Constant of Flint, Mich., Peggy Whitcher of Kansas City, Mo., and Jerry Harper of Bentonville, Ark.; two brothers, Dana and John W., both of Lorimor; and eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
