June 1903John Rausenberger was born in Washington county, Penn., August 2, 1828. Died June 9, 1903, at his home in Penn township, Madison county, Iowa, being 74 years, 10 months and 17 days old. He was a patient sufferer for many long months, the result of a paralytic stroke about two years ago.
He came with his parents from Pennsylvania to Ohio when two years old, moved to Louisa county, Iowa, in 1852.
He was united in marriage to Jane Moore in the fall of 1865. To this union was born four children, all of whom were present at his death. He moved to Madison county in 1894.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian church for many years; lived a pure, upright and Godly life—a Christian whose daily life showed to the world that he had been with Christ and learned of Him.
Funeral services were held on last Wednesday afternoon in the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Allen of Dexter, after which he was laid away in the Earlham cemetery, there to await the great resurrection call. Thus we recognize the loss of a loving husband, kind father, true friend, and neighbor. May God’s love overshadow the bereaved family, is the prayer of a friend.
